Bible Verses About Courage for Boys
Courage is not the absence of fear. It is obedience to God when fear is present. These verses give your son a vocabulary for bravery that is rooted in Scripture, not in self-confidence. Read one per week, memorize it together, and talk about what it means in his daily life.
Foundational Courage
- Joshua 1:9 — "Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Courage comes from God's presence, not your own strength.
- Deuteronomy 31:6 — "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you." God goes ahead of you into every hard situation.
- Psalm 27:1 — "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" When you know who protects you, fear loses its grip.
Courage Under Pressure
- Isaiah 41:10 — "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God." God does not ask you to be brave alone.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 — "God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." Your courage is a gift — it was given to you on purpose.
- Proverbs 28:1 — "The righteous are bold as a lion." Living right gives you nothing to hide and nothing to fear.
Courage to Do Right
- 1 Corinthians 16:13 — "Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong." Courage means standing when everyone else sits down.
- Psalm 56:3 — "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." Fear is not failure — running from God is.
- Romans 8:31 — "If God is for us, who can be against us?" The opinion that matters most is already settled.
Courage for Daily Life
- Philippians 4:13 — "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Hard tasks become possible with God's help.
- Psalm 118:6 — "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" Peer pressure has no power over a boy who knows his Father.
- Ephesians 6:10 — "Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might." Borrow God's strength when yours runs out.
